Corona virus advice

Posted by Loz Miller at Mar 16, 2020 10:22AM PDT

Slightly conflicting advice with some clear policies see last sentences
from Swim England

"“The guidance we have received is that water and the chlorine within swimming pools will help to kill the virus. It’s important, however, to ensure that everyone visiting pools follows the latest hygiene advice to help reduce the risk of infection.

“Competitors should shower before and after entering the water, while spectators and volunteers should regularly wash their hands for 20 seconds using soap and water or a sanitiser gel.

“Most importantly, if you feel unwell, please do not attend events or training and seek appropriate medical advice.”

from PM-
Anyone who lives with someone who has a cough or a temperature should stay at home for 14 days
People should start working from home where they possibly can
Avoid pubs, clubs, theatres and other such social venues
Only use the NHS when we really need to
From tomorrow government will no longer be “supporting” mass gatherings using emergency workers

My understanding is training can carry on for now- subject to strict showering/washing /self care guidelines. no one will admitted to a training session without a prior shower and also if they have any infection

“I was thrilled to be selected for Team GB for the European Youth Olympics in Baku, Azerbaijan. I was really pleased with my swims – getting to the semi-finals in the 200m Breaststroke and finishing 9th overall was incredible, especially since I’d hurt my back and was having daily physio out there. My 100m Breaststroke PB was an added bonus.

I made lots of friends and living in the Athletes’ Village as a proper Olympian would do was amazing. It was a very valuable experience, getting used to being away from home and eating different food with athletes from lots of different countries and sports. We were very well looked after by Team GB, who brought lots of staff, including a Team Doctor and 3 Physiotherapists! British Swimming also sent 3 coaches with us. We were even treated to tea at the British Embassy with the Ambassador on our first full day there.

It was nice to have a day off at the end to explore Baku with the rest of the swimming team before our flight home. Thank you British Swimming and Team GB for selecting me and looking after me so well."
